Nyamira County is one of Kenya’s main agricultural zones.
Here, subsistence farming sustains livelihoods and is the main source of income.
In recent years, however, weather variability due to climate change has affected agricultural practices threatening the future of farming.
Our Climate Change Education project acknowledges the direct link between young people and the future. In order to bridge an existent knowledge gap around the mystery of a changing climate, we practice next-generation capacity building to educate the region’s future farmers.
Through this project, we work with young early-career conservationists to raise awareness about climate change; science, mitigation, and adaptation to students in primary and secondary schools in rural agricultural communities of Nyamira County. We facilitate the program through interactive classroom lectures and outdoor experiences that demonstrate landscape restoration.
Konservation recognizes that the students we educate in Nyamira will be the future farmers and engineers of the landscapes they inherit. By actively sowing seeds of knowledge, we equip young people with information tools that help them combat climate change and secure the future of their landscapes.

Volunteers
During primary and secondary school – academic terms, we accept a small number of volunteers to our ongoing Climate Change Education field project in Nyamira County, Kenya.
The volunteer program is comprised of a 1 – 2 weeks placement designed for university students or graduates pursuing a career in conservation and/or agriculture, and is equipped with skills in practical community development.
